If you go over to the third line, your bullet point is a bit too long, and you probably need to break it up into two separate bullet points. Typically, I wouldn’t go more than two lines per bullet point. If you have to go over to the second line, make sure it extends to the end of the second line. Not halfway through, not two-thirds of the way through, you want your bullet point to extend to the end of the line. It should go from the left side all the way to the right side. That’s the simple two-part framework that you should use for every single bullet point on your resume.Īnd the last little bonus tip that I’ll give you is that when you’re writing a bullet on your resume, try to make sure that it fits on the entire length of the page. Sometimes you’re not going to be able to quantify the results for every single bullet point.īut anytime that you can quantify the results, you must. More importantly, you want to be able to quantify these results as much as possible. If your action helped them become more efficient by a certain amount of time per week, whatever it may be, you want to list out the results. If this action you performed resulted in more revenue for the company you’re working for or helped them cut costs or save money somewhere, you should include it in your bullet point. They need to have the proper context, and they need to know why they should care that you’ve done this thing before. Just telling the interviewer what you’ve done is not enough. It is a crucial part of the bullet point.

This is the part that people often forget to do or just didn’t know they have to do. In the second half of the bullet, you want to make sure that you describe the results of your action. So that’s the first half of the bullet - you start with an action verb, and you describe whatever it is that you did.
