The CGDNM’s mission is to promote safety of life and property at sea, to safe-guard the marine environment and its resources, to enforce all applicable maritime laws and to conduct maritime security operations and other activities in sup-port of the PCG’s mission within the Northern Mindanao’s maritime jurisdiction. It is the homeport of 165 vessels/ships, 173 fishing boats/bancas and 1,063 motorboat/bancas plying various trades. It also comprises a total of nine provinces, 13 cities, 146 municipalities, 11 is-lands and 2,022 barangays which have 76 piers/wharves with a monthly average volume of 2,541 passenger/cargo vessels and 32,171 incoming and outgoing passengers. The area of responsibility of CGDNM covers approximately 750 square nautical miles seawater with 986 kilometers of coastline. Presently, CGDNM has nine Coast Guard stations and 28 Coast Guard sub-stations under its administrative and operational control. On 18 October 2000, the 10th Coast Guard District was renamed to Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) by virtue of HPCG Memorandum Circular Number 13 dated 18 October 2000, considering its geographical location. The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) formerly known as the 10th Coast Guard District was activated on 19 April 1999 pursuant to Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard (HPCG) General Orders (GO) 121 dated 25 March 1999 which is located at 1280 Corrales Extension, Puntod, Port Area, Cagayan de Oro City and is co-located with Coast Guard Station Cagayan de Oro.
